【Abstract】
Zn plating includes a hot-dip plating method in which steel is submerged in molten Zn and an electroplating method in which electricity is applied. The thickness of Zn varies from 10 μm to 100 μm depending on the application. In this work, the galvanic corrosion of Zn-Fe was studied for a case that the Zn plating layer with a thickness of 50 μm is partially peeled off so that Fe is exposed. A large difference of the surface dissolution current densities and shape deformations between Zn and Fe was shown, and the corrosion protection of Fe due to Zn plating was verified.
