DAC高圧装置におけるダイヤモンドアンビルの弾性変形

【講演概要】

Diamond anvil cell (DAC) has been used in various studies under high pressure. In this study, we focused on the length change of diamond anvils compressed in DAC to constrain in-situ sample thickness, which is indispensable in converting the travel time of ultrasonic wave to elastic wave velocity. We applied finite element method (FEM) to investigate the elastic deformation of diamond anvils within the elastic limit of diamond, and learned that diamond anvil deformation depends not only generated pressure but also total load applied to diamond anvils. Therefore, we devised a method to monitor the total load in the symmetric DAC. Consequently, we developed a procedure to estimate the variation of diamond anvil length from generated pressure and total load. The present achievement is useful to many other measurements in which sample thickness is critical to evaluate physical properties from experimental measurement data.
